Trip to Kitakyushu (北九州) on 10 December

Yestreday, we went to Kitakyushu. Where did we go? First, we climbed Mount Sarakura (皿倉山) by car. The road is open to the public, so we can go up to the top of the mountain. The mountain is one of the major peaks of the Hobashira Mountains (帆柱山系), and the most popular peak for visitors. There is a cable car service, you'll take it on the middle. From there, you must change another train, called slope car monorail to the peak. Next we stopped at the Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art, but only for taking pictures of the buildings. After that, we went to Kokura (小倉), an ancient castle town and the center of Kitakyushu. We had scheduled to go Kokura Castle (小倉城), but it was still closed because of earthquake-proof construction until next spring. We took a short break at Riverwalk Kitakyushu (リバーウォーク北九州), a large shopping and entertainment complex near the Murasaki River (紫川) and the castle. We also took a walk around there. We found Tokiwa Bridge (常盤橋), a wooden bridge that spans the upstream of Murasaki River. It was the starting point of the Nagasaki Kaido, a road across Kyushu from Kokura to Nagasaki, used by daimyo for the sankin kotai. After leaving Kokura, we took a drive to Mekari Park (めかり公園). The park is located at the top of Mount Kojo (古城山), so you can see amazing views of Mojiko and Shimonoseki (下関) in Yamaguchi Prefecture (山口県) across the narrow Kanmon Straits (関門海峡).  Finally, we visited Mojiko Retro Town (門司港レトロ), the buildings which were built at the best period has been kept.
I was able to see raising the action of Blue Wing Moji (ブルーウイングもじ) drawbridge at 4. It's raised six times a day, I was so lucky to see it.

I'll tell you in more details later.
