Genko Borui (元寇防塁) at Nagahama Beach

We stopped at Genko Borui at Nagahama Beach (長浜海水浴場), located in Imazu (今津), Nishi-ku, Fukuoka before going to Futamigaura Beach.

=Summary=
The Genkō Bōrui (元寇防塁, Genkō Bōrui^?) was a defensive stone wall, 20 kilometers (12 mi) long, constructed along Hakata Bay in Japan in preparation for an attack by Mongol forces of the Yuan Dynasty after the first attack of 1274.

The second attack of 1281 was thwarted by a typhoon, or kamikaze, and the Mongols were forced to withdraw.^[1] In the Edo era, some of the stones were reused for the construction of Fukuoka Castle, though Genkō Bōrui has remained intact at several points along the Hakata Bay. It was originally called "Ishitsuiji" (石築地^?). It was designated a national historic site on March 30, 1931.

Keya no Oto (芥屋の大門), Itoshima, Fukuoka

After leaving Futamigaura Beach, we visited Keya no Oto.

=Summary=
Keya no Oto, designated a natural monument in 1966, is the one of three largest major sea caves in Japan. Hexagonal or octagonal basalt rocks make up soaring columnar joints in the surging waves in the Genkai Sea.

Futamigaura Beach (二見ヶ浦), Itoshima, Fukuoka

Yesterday, we decided to take a drive to see Futamigaura Beach the famed wedded rocks. This day was a public holiday in Japan, called Autumnal Equinox Day (秋分の日 Shubun-no-hi), lots of people were enjoying the beach.

=Summary=
Because the sunset over the Sea of Genkai is so beautiful, Futamigaura Beach is known as "Futamigaura of the Sunsets". It is also called Sakurai Futamigaura Beach, as the two rocks lying close to one another just off the coast that are connected with a sacred straw rope are owned by Sakurai Shrine, and were venerated by the Kuroda domain lord for generations.

Yesterday is the celebration of the full moon or Tsukimi (月見) takes place on the 15th day of the eighth month of the traditional Japanese lunisolar calendar. It was a clear sky last night, so the moon was beautiful.

Buses in Hong Kong/香港のバス

As a former British colony, buses in Hong Kong have many British style double-decker buses.
旧イギリス領の名残のせいか香港のバスはイギリス式の2階建てバスが多く走っています。

KMB's two Volvo Wright Bus Eclipse Gemini 2 meet at Nathan Road

The company has been introduced the latest model since 2010 instead of the previous Wright Gemini model. The left one is PX5463 on Route 87D to Hongham Station and the right one is RJ2733 on Route 2 to Star Ferry Terminal.
それまでのライト・ジェミニ（Wright Gemini）に代わるモデルとして2010年以降最新型モデルを導入しています。左はホンハム駅行き87D番PX5463で 右はスターフェリーターミナル行き2番RJ2733。

Hojoya at Hakozaki Shrine, Fukuoka

I went to Hojoya (放生夜) last weekend, on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Hojoya, one of the three major festivals in Hakata (=Fukuoka). This autumn festival of Hakozaki Shrine is held every year from September 12 to 18. Hojoya is originally a shrine ritual to pay respect to everything alive and prohibit killing. I saw many people visit the shrine on this occasion to give thanks to the rich harvest of autumn, pray for traffic safety and business success.

As many as 700 street stalls will line up along 1 km long approach. I ate some food there; French fries, Grilled chicken (Yakitori in Japanese), Soft Ice cream and even Taco! Nowadays, opening a stall for selling international food has become more popular in Japan.

Bungo Futamigaura (豊後二見が浦)

Before going to Totoro bus stop, we visited Bungo Futamigaura, located in the Kamiura (上浦) area is a coastal stretch known for its wedded rocks. It is one of the 100 most beautiful sceneries in Oita.

Turn right from the fire department, about 50m further down the narrow road to Shinonome Junior High school (東雲中学校), you can find the two rocks lying close to one another just off the coast that are connected with a sacred straw rope.

We went to Totoro bus stop yesterday

We went to Totoro bus stop, a famous bus stop which is featured the film "My Neighbor Totoro". Originally, it was scheduled to go the day before yesterday, on September 9. But, when I heard the weather forecast in Oita on this day, it will be cloudy. However, it is expected to be a clear sky yesterday. For this reason, we decided to go there yesterday. We visited there in July 2010, and want to see "What has became there in 3 years".

It looked like this at the time.

Although appearance itself isn't much different from three years ago, but timetable and a cover chair had been removed from the bus stop because the Oita Bus Kiura-kozan route was discontinued on March 31. Also part of the roof had been peeled off.

A thankful message poster of Hayao Miyazaki's retirement is posted by owner.

A bunch of Totoros have also made a change. To decorate Totoro dolls as much as possible, increase a branch to the left of the big tree in the middle. There are also a hand-painted Totoro and ema (絵馬), a picture resembling the Japanese theatrical version poster is drawn.

Day tripping to Totoro bus stop tomorrow, on 10 September

Tomorrow, we decided to go Totoro bus stop. It was scheduled to go today. But, when I heard the weather forecast in Oita this morning, it will be cloudy today. However, it is expected to be a clear sky tomorrow, so we've changed the date. We visited there in July 2010, and want to see "What has became there in 3 years". Before going to there, we'll visit Bungo Futamigaura (豊後二見が浦), located in the Kamiura (上浦) area is a coastal stretch known for its wedded rocks. It is one of the 100 most beautiful sceneries in Oita. We'll visit some other places around. I'll tell you later.

I bought a special discount round-trip ticket (62,000 yen) plus taxes, fees and surcharges on the official website. The fare is cheaper than other competitive airlines.
公式ホームページから最安値の62,000円（諸税、サーチャージ別）で購入。他社と比べてとても安かったように思えます。

==In-flight/機内==
Between Fukuoka and Singapore
It was a month after the Tohoku Earthquake on 11 March, probably many passengers canceled the reservation, roughly 70 - 80% of passengers taken between both cities. Most passengers are Japanese. They'll go to Marina Bay Sands, a resort complex in Marina Bay, has just opened in July 2010. Meal can be chosen from two main dishes; Japanese and Western. I chose Japanese both way, beef with rice outward journey and fish with rice return.

Between Singapore and Sydney
Both flights were almost full. I sat in the upper deck economy of A380s. In this section, array of seats is 2-4-2, while the main deck is 3-4-3, it's much comfortable than the main deck. As a part of the Kangaroo route, I saw many passengers from Europe. Meal is excellent. Especially, I love Singaporean style stir fried noodle with roast pork. I ate it in my return flight.

Kris World
Kris World, an AVOD entertainment system, has a wide selection of programs such as films, music etc. I really enjoyed it. Personally, I prefer to Studio CX of Cathay Pacific because it has a large number of CD albums, and available in 6 languages, including Japanese.

Flight attendants
Great people, friendly and excellent service. I feel very comfortable when boarding on a plane because they're doing the same attentive service as in Japanese flag carriers.

福岡ーシンガポール間
3月11日の東日本大震災の1ヵ月後だったので予約をキャンセルしている客が多くこの区間は70－80％ぐらい乗っていました。ほとんどの客は2010年7月にオープンしたばかりの複合型リゾート施設マリナ・ベイザンズに行くと思われる日本人でした。食事は和食と洋食の2種類で往復とも和食にしました。行きはビーフとご飯和えで帰りは深夜便だったので魚とご飯和えでした。

シンガポールーシドニー間
乗った便はともにほぼ満席でした。僕はA380のアッパーデッキ（2階席）のエコノミーに座りました。この部分は2－4－2の配列でメインデッキ（1階席）は3－4－3なのでメインデッキよりとても快適です。この便はカンガルー路線なので欧州からの客を多く見かけました。機内食はおいしくて特に帰りの便で食べたシンガポール風チャーシュー焼きそばがおいしかったです。

クリスワールド
オンデマンドエンターテイメントシステムであるクリスワールドは映画や音楽など多様なプログラムがあって退屈することなく楽しめます。個人的にはキャセイパシフィック航空のStudio CXのほうがCDアルバムの枚数が多く日本語を含む6言語対応なので好きです。

客室乗務員
乗務員の方々はとても親切丁寧です。日系と同じくきめ細かなサービスをやっていて乗ったときとても心地よいです。

==Check-in/チェックイン==
At Fukuoka Airport, all check-in procedure is done at All Nippon Airways (ANA) counter. A ground staff at Singapore was friendly, but the correspondence of a female staff is really worst at Sydney. Due to the bad attitude of her, I have been encountering serious problems. I took a seat in the rear emergency exit of the upper deck, paying 4,300 yen for return flight when I bought on the website. But it was discovered a double booking at the boarding gate. And the buzzer rang. Therefore she ask me by changing the seat to 31A, the foremost part of economy class in the main deck. At that time, a ground staff of Malaysia Airlines, in charge of the boarding procedure, she went into the plane to check the situation. After a while, she came back and arrange an alternative seat, an aisle on the center right side. An Australian married couple who were sitting there already, but they told me "I'm sorry". Thanks to all.
福岡空港でのチェックインはANAカウンターにて行います。シンガポールの地上職員は親切でしたがシドニーでの女性職員の対応が本当に最悪。その方のせいで最悪なトラブルに巻き込まれてしまい危うく乗れなくなるところでした。帰国便はホームページから購入の際4,300円払ってアッパーデッキの後部非常口の座席を取ったんですが搭乗ゲートでダブルブッキングだったことが発覚。しまいにブザーが鳴る始末。それに座席をメインデッキ最前列である31Aに変えてくれないかと依頼。そのとき搭乗手続きを担当していたマレーシア航空の地上職員が機内に入ってもらって状態を把握。しばらくしてから戻ってきてくれて代わりの席として中央右側通路席を手配。すでにそこに座っていたオーストラリア人夫婦は”すみません”とひとこと言ってくれました。

==Frequent flyer programs/マイル==
Singapore Airlines has its own frequent flyer program, Kris flyer. Since the airline is a member of Star Alliance, it can also be added to frequent flyer programs of each member. I'm a member of Kris flyer since May 2006.
シンガポール航空は独自のマイレージプログラムであるクリスフライヤーがありますが同社はスターアライアンスメンバーなので加盟各社マイレージプログラムでの相互加算も可能です。僕は2006年5月からクリスフライヤーの会員です。

==Conclusion/最後に==
I think SQ is the best airline of the world, with their hospitality and refine service. The airline has extensive networks to Australia, so I'll fly again next time.
毎回シンガポール航空に乗ってここがすばらしいと思うのは洗練されたサービスとおもてなしだと思います。オーストラリアへの路線も充実しているので次回また利用したいです。

The flight was scheduled to be operated by normal schedule at the time of booking. However, I got a notice about rescheduling from Kris Flyer Call Center by email on 5 July. Schedule after the change is departing from Seoul Incheon at 10:15 am, and arriving at Fukuoka 11:35 am.
予約時この便は通常のスケジュールで運航する予定でしたが7月5日にクリスフライヤーコールセンターのほうからスケジュール変更の通知がメールで届いていました。変更後のスケジュールはソウル仁川発10:15 - 福岡着11:35です。

The OZ132 flight is boarding from Gate 31 at the main terminal. The boarding time on this flight was began at 9:40 am.
OZ132便はメインターミナルの31番ゲートから搭乗。当便の搭乗時刻開始は午前9時40分。

I flew this plane to returning home.
この飛行機に乗っていよいよ帰国の途に。

I was very impressed that all crews are bowed deeply to their passengers when boarding. It's absolutely different from Cathay Pacific that I've got so far! The plane left on time. There are about 60 to 70% of passengers. Because the turbulence was followed after takeoff, seat belt sign won't disappear easily. Finally, it went out after about 20 minutes.
搭乗したときとても感動したのはすべての乗務員が乗客に対して深く頭を下げてあいさつすることです。これまで乗ってきたキャセイとはまったく違います。飛行機は定刻通りに出発しました。機内は60-70%の乗客でした。離陸後乱気流が続いていたせいかシートベルト着用サインがなかなか消えずようやく20分ほどして消えました。

Meal. As well as an outward journey, sandwich and mineral water are only served.
機内食。往路と同じくサンドイッチとミネラルウォーターのみ出されました。

Sandwich itself isn't much different outward, but it is served with pickles, a small tomato and simmered pumpkin as a side dish.
サンドイッチ自体往路とほとんど変わりないんですがサイドディッシュとしてかぼちゃの煮物、小さなトマトとピクルスを添えています。

The plane has been flying smoothly. However, despite of the heavy landing planes at Fukuoka, the landing permit was not given, detouring about 10 minutes over to land.
飛行機は順調に飛行してきたものの福岡空港での着陸機混雑のため着陸許可が降りずに上空を10分ほど迂回してようやく着陸しました。

I saw EVA Air (BR) A330-300 B-16332 Kitty Jet Apple livery by chance which is stopping at the next gate. This is BR2106 from Taipei. 　
偶然にも隣のゲートに止まっているエバー航空（BR）のA330-300キティジェットアップル塗装機（B-16332）を見ました。当便は台北発BR2106便です。

After arrival, I reported the matter of through baggage reject from Cathay Pacific to the nearest Asiana Airlines ground staff. Then, she called me the Cathay Pacific staff to explain the situation. The customs officer took me another room to investigate because there was a leak to fill out in the declaration form at the customs declaration. It finished just answered a few questions because there was no particular problem.
到着後近くにいたアシアナ航空の係員にキャセイからの手荷物スルー拒否の件を報告。するとキャセイの係員を呼び出してくれていきさつを説明。税関申告の際申告書に記入漏れがあったせいか別室まで連れて行かれて調べられましたが別に問題がなかったのでいくつか質問に答えただけで終了しました。

Explore the Incheon International Airport/仁川国際空港を探索

I arrived at the check-in counter of Asiana Airlines at 7:30 am. It was 2 hours before departure. As well as outward, the procedure of check-in was done at the counter because an online check-in is not available for the award tickets. They could understand when I show baggage tag and told the matter of through baggage rejected from Cathay Pacific to the staff at the time of check-in.
出発2時間前の午前7時30分アシアナ航空のチェックインカウンターに着きました。行きと同じく特典航空券利用だったためオンラインチェックインが利用できずにチェックインは通常のカウンターでしました。チェックインの際スタッフにキャセイからの手荷物スルー拒否の件を伝えて荷物タグを見せると理解してくれました。

I stopped the Hub lounge, a pay-in-lounge on the 4th floor before getting on a plane. There are some kinds of food in this lounge; Korean, Chinese, Western etc. There is also a pay shower facility inside.
飛行機に乗る前に4階にある有料ラウンジハブラウンジに立ち寄りました。ここのラウンジは韓国、中華、洋食など種類が豊富です。館内にはシャワーもあります（有料）。

ソウル行きCX412便搭乗記です。当便は深夜便です。

Until now, I took overnight flights from South East Asia to Fukuoka and Seoul several times, but I took a short-range red-eye flight from Hong Kong first time.
今まで東南アジア発福岡・ソウル行き深夜便を数回利用しましたが香港発の短距離深夜便を利用したのは初めてです。

After end of the immigration, I was waiting at gate 26 to start boarding.
出国審査を終えて搭乗開始までゲート26で待っていました。

Fleet is an A330-300 as usual, but it became a 33B of Premium Economy equipment for middle-distance routes at the time of online check-in 2 days ago. However, it was taken already when I choose a seat, so I sat in the coach section.
機種は通常のA330-300機だったのですが2日前のオンラインチェックインの際に機材がプレミアム・エコノミー装備の中距離線用33Bとなっていたので座席指定するとその部分はすでに取られていたのでエコノミー席部分に座りました。

At 12:54 am, the plane starts a pushback. 10 minutes later, it was takeoff on Rwy 07R. Luckily, my flight is starting almost the same time with the Korean Air KE608 flight. The KE flight is departed 15 minutes earlier than this flight and arrives at Incheon 10 minutes early. 
午前0時54分に飛行機はプッシュバックを開始し10分後に滑走路07Rから離陸。運よく当便は大韓航空KE608便とほぼ同じ時刻に出たようです。KE便は搭乗した便より15分前に出て仁川には10分先に着きます。

Meal. Because of an overnight flight, a simple box meal and a Vita lemon juice pack are only served. It has sandwich, muffin and fruit platter inside.
機内食。深夜便なので簡単なボックスミールとビタレモンパックジュースのみ出されました。中にはサンドイッチ、マフィン、フルーツ盛り合わせが入っていました。

Handsets are distributed afterwards and enjoy in-flight entertainment. Due to the failure of touch panel, it doesn't work well. So I had to try to see if it works by calling the in-flight service manager (=parser) passing by the side. But, it still doesn't work well. Therefore I ask a young Korean woman crew behind by changing the seat. She made me a change to 39H, the foremost part of economy class. Since the remote control is equipped with the seat, it can be operated even in the case of panel failure.
その後ヘッドホーンが配られて機内エンターテイメントを楽しもうとしたのですがタッチパネルの故障でうまく作動せずにたまたま側を通った機内マネージャーを呼んで作動するかどうか試してもらいましたがそれでもうまく作動しませんでした。それで最後部にいた若い韓国人女性乗務員に席を替えてくれないかと依頼。すると座席をエコノミークラス部分の最前列である39Hに替えてくれました。この座席にはリモコンが装備されていてパネル故障の場合でも操作が可能です。

The plane arrived at Incheon 5:26 am local time.
飛行機は午前5時26分仁川空港に着陸。

I saw an overnight staying Cathay Pacific's B777-200 B-HNC by chance at Gate 125. This is CX420/421 to/from Hong Kong via Taipei.　
偶然にも125番ゲートに夜間駐機しているキャセイのB777-200機B-HNCを見ました。当機は香港発着台北経由のCX420/421便です。

I took the Star Line shuttle train to the main terminal. Because of the mistake of the ground staff of London, my baggage could not be through to the Asiana Airlines flight to Fukuoka in transit. So I have to pick up my luggage once after immigration. Receiving my baggage from London at the baggage claim area, then I went to Spa-on-air, a sauna located on the first basement to heal the weariness of the journey. There is a bath of separate male and female in the room. Each room has shower facilities and a bath. You can stay here 20,000 won per night. I was a little fatigue recovery thanks. After that, I went to the check-in counter of Asiana Airlines. I re-deposited the baggage and check-in here. 
スターラインシャトルトレインでメインターミナルへ。ロンドンの地上職員の手違いのせいで荷物が乗り継ぎのアシアナ航空福岡便にスルーできず一旦入国して荷物を引き取りしなければなりません。手荷物受取所でロンドンからの荷物を受け取ってから地下1階にあるスパ・オン・エアーで旅の疲れを癒すことに。館内には男女別々の浴場があってそれぞれお風呂とシャワーの設備があります。ここでは宿泊も可能で1泊20,000ウオンです。おかげで少しは疲労回復しました。その後アシアナ航空のカウンターへ行ってチェックインと荷物を預けなおしました。

The 7 hour stopover in Hong Kong/香港にて7時間ストップオーバー

I was trying to catch a bus to the city. However, my Octopus card was expired, so I must buy a new one. I ask the ticket office, but they said "It is not sold Octopus card here". Therefore I paid by cash.
バスに乗って市内に行こうとしましたがオクトパスカードが期限切れだったので新しいものを買い直さなければならずきっぷ売り場で尋ねると”ここではオクトパスカードは販売していない”と言われ仕方なく現金で払いました。

バス停から離陸する飛行機を見ることができます。これはキャセイパシフィック航空のA330-300機です。

I took the city flyer airport bus route A11 to Macau Ferry Terminal. After getting off from the bus, I visited to Western Market. Built in 1906, Western Market have saved a converted Edwardian style building.
シティフライヤー空港バスのA11番でマカオフェリーターミナルへ。バスを降りて1906年に建てられたエドワード様式の建物を改築し保存しているウエスタン・マーケットへ。

The time is 6:30 already. Looking at the sky, it was slightly cloudy. I was wondering whether or not to go to the peak. Finally, I decided not to go to the peak this time because the weather forecast says mostly cloudy and occasionally rain.
すでに時刻は6時30分。空を見上げるとかなり曇っていたのでピークに行くべきかどうか迷った挙句天気予報では曇り時々雨なので今回は行かないことに決定。

I decided to go to Wanchai because I know the best Chinese restaurant there. I bought Octopus Card at the station first then dinner. I looked around, but I couldn't find there. So, I had a dinner into two restaurants near here. 　
湾仔（ワンチャイ）にあるおいしい中華料理店を知っていたので行くことに。駅でオクトパスカードを買ってから夕食にしょうとしたのであたりを見回してみましたが見つかりませんでした。それで近くにある2軒のレストランに入って夕食としました。

After dinner, I took a bus to Central. From here, I took a star ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui.
夕食後バスで中環（セントラル）まで出てスターフェリーでチムサアチョイへ。

I walked to Star of Avenue to see the great night view of Victoria Harbor.
スター・オブ・アベニューに行ってビクトリア・ハーバーのすばらしい夜景を眺めました。

After that, I visited to the Night Market by bus. It'll be held in Temple Street, Jordan.
その後バスでナイトマーケットが開催される佐敦（ジョーダン；Jordan）のテンプル・ストリート（廟街）へ。

Nathan Road, the most crowded street in Hong Kong.
ネーザン・ロードは香港で最も活気があるストリートです。

The time is 10:30 already. It's time that must be returned to the airport. I came back by bus from Jordan. The bus arrived at the airport in 40 minutes.
すでに時刻は10時30分。空港に戻らなければならない時間だったので佐敦からバスで戻りました。40分で空港に到着。

The CX412 flight to Seoul will be departed at 1:00am. I take this flight to Seoul Incheon. It must be picked up the luggage once after the immigration at Incheon. And I have to do check-in procedures and re-deposited the baggage at the check-in counter of Asiana Airlines.
ソウル行きCX412便は午前1時発。この便に乗ってソウル仁川に向かいます。仁川では入国審査後一旦荷物を引き取らなければなりません。そしてアシアナ航空のチェックインカウンターで乗り継ぎ便のチェックイン手続きと荷物を預けなおさなければなりません。

After end of the immigration, I was waiting at gate 26 to start boarding CX412.
出国審査を終えてCX412便の搭乗開始までゲート26で待っていました。
