Heiwadai Park (平和台公園), Miyazaki
I took three photos of Heiwadai Park, located in
Miyazaki city. These photos are taken on 04 November 2010.
Summery
Heiwadai Tower or "Peace Tower" (also known as the
Hakkō ichiu
monument), in the expansive Heiwadai park, is a must-see for tourists.
Originally the "Tower of the Emperor," symbolizing Japanese imperial
expansion, it was renamed for peace after the events of
World War II.
Next to Heiwadai Tower, there is a
Haniwa sculpture figures in garden. The garden is home to a collection of nearly 400 burial statues that
include not just those of warriors, but also of animals, dancers,
houses, boats and other influential entities. It was a practice during
the rule of the
Kofun dynasty to create clay statues around the burial
grounds of the dead.
