On 31 March 2011, after we left Suizenji Joju-en in Kumamoto city, we went to Shirakawa Suigen (=Spring Source), in the village of Minamiaso, Kumamoto.
Summery
Shirakawa Suigen is famous for its water, which was selected as one of the 100 best waters in Japan by the Ministry of the Environment. The normal temperature of this spring water is 14℃ and 60 tons per minute gushes out into the river Shirakawa, which flows through the centre of Kumamoto city. The spring water can be taken freely and heat-treated water is also available in shops.
