Kaminoshima Church (神の島教会), Nagasaki

We were visited to Kaminoshima Church in Nagasaki City on 07 January 2012. It's the second oldest historic church in Japan.

History
In 1897, Father Duran constructed Kaminoshima Church at his own expense, in cooperation with the faithful. Standing at the entrance of Nagasaki Port, this white church plays the symbolic role of informing crews of foreign vessels that they have arrived at Nagasaki, formerly a Christian town. On a frog-shaped rock below the church, the image of Our Lady on the Cape stands praying for the safety of ships at sea.
