Day 1, Trip to Seoul/1日目:ソウル市内観光

I arrived at Sky Hotel at 2:40 pm. After arriving at the hotel, I had planned to go Seoul by train but it was a terrible heavy rain outside. So I decided to go after become a light rain.

午後2時40分スカイホテルに着きました。ホテル到着後列車でソウルまで行く予定でしたが外はかなりの大雨でした。それで小雨になってから行くことに決めました。

When the weather became a light rain at about 3:40 pm, I left a hotel. A 7 minute walk to Unseo Station (운서역) to take A'REX train to Seoul. It takes between 45 and 50 minutes.

3時40分ごろに小雨となったのでホテルを出て徒歩7分の雲西駅（ウンソ；운서역）からA'REXの列車に乗ってソウルへ。所要時間は45－50分です。

The train arrived at Seoul Station at 4:45 pm. I want to go Gyeongbokgung Palace first, but I was wondering to take by subway or taxi, either. It was still a light rain outside, so I decided to go by taxi. But it took 20 minutes to arrive because the evening rush hour has already started.

列車は4時45分ごろにソウル駅に到着。最初は景福宮に行きたくて地下鉄かタクシーどちらにするか迷ったのですが外はまだ小雨が降っていたのでタクシーで行くことに。しかし夕方のラッシューアワーが始まっていて着くまで20分ほどかかりました。

After I bought a ticket, I was so surprised that there's many Chinese tourists! Recently, the largest number of tourists come from Chinese speaking countries; mainly from mainland China, some from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and also the overseas Chinese from South East Asia, such as Malaysia, Singapore etc. For this reason, I saw many signboards and maps, restaurant menu etc. written in Chinese.

チケットを買って中に入ると中華系団体のあまりの多さにびっくり！最近では中華圏から訪れる観光客が多くなったようで主に中国大陸から、一部が香港、マカオ、台湾から、さらに一部の華僑がマレーシアやシンガポールなどから来るようです。そのせいか地図などの標記やレストランのメニューなどが中国語で書かれているのを多く見かけました。

After leaving Gwanghwamun Square, I went to Insa-dong on foot. There, I found the unique Starbucks coffee shop. The logo of this shop is written in both Korean and English.
光化門広場を後に歩いて仁寺洞に向かいました。そこでは風変わりなスターバックスを見つけました。お店のロゴはハングルと英語の両方で書かれています。

At 6:30 pm, I took a taxi to Myong-dong, the heart of Seoul. The rain became more and more intensely, I was pretty wet. Perhaps it was rain, I didn't see many tourists there. 

6時30分ごろタクシーでソウル市内の中心地明洞（ミョンドン）へ。雨が急に激しくなりずぶ濡れとなりました。雨だったせいかたくさんの観光客を見かけませんでした。

When I walked around to look for a Korean BBQ restaurant there, a middle-aged man called me in Japanese, "World you like to eat BBQ dinner?" at the entrance of Suwon Kalbi restaurant. The restaurant itself is located 5th floor, so we had to go to the elevator. I saw many Japanese tourists there. I ordered a course menu (6,500 won per person), served with two slices of Kalbi, bibimbap, and several side dishes such as Kim' chi, raw meat etc. the meat is very soft and juicy, delicious bibimbap, and of course, I ate some side dishes. I had a full stomach.

焼肉料理店を探しに歩いていると水原カルビ店の入口で中年の男性が”焼肉を食べませんか？”と日本語で話しかけてきました。ここのお店は5階にあるのでエレベーターで上がらなければなりませんでした。店内は日本人観光客が多かったです。注文したメニューはコース料理（6,500ウオン）でカルビ2切れ、ビビンバとキムチ、ユッケなどいくつかのおかずが出てきました。肉は柔らかくてジューシー、ビビンバもおいしくてもちろんいくつかのおかずも食べたので腹いっぱいとなりました。

After dinner, I headed off to Seoul Station by taxi, and went back to the hotel by train from there.
夕食後タクシーでソウル駅に出てそこから列車でホテルまで戻りました。
