I took four photos of Sakurajima, an active volcano in Kagoshima Prefecture. The volcanic activity still continues, dropping large amounts of volcanic ash on the surroundings.
- 09 April 2009: A view of Sakurajima from Sengan-en Japanese garden is just outside the city. Today Sakurajima erupted, sending ash up to Kagoshima City.
- 24 July 2011: We took a drive to see the Northern part of Sakurajima. We were visited to Kurokami Buried Torii (=shrine gate) which was buried by lava and ash when the largest eruption was occurred in 1914.
- 25 July 2011: We saw Sakurajima from Shiroyama Observatory in Central Kagoshima, which is visible across the bay.
