Shikanoshima Island (志賀島), Higashi-ku, Fukuoka
On 23 September 2011, we were dicided to take a drive to Shikanoshima Island. Today was a nice weather, so we had decided to take a drive to see Kin-in Park (金印公園) where the golden black Seal (
Kin-in 金印 in Japanese) was discovered in 1784.
About 1km further down the road from Kin-in Park, there is a mound called Mokozuka (蒙古塚) which Mongolians perished in battle fields or killed in
action during the
Mongolian invasion were buried for the repose of their souls
so that they would not become violent gods.
Finally, we went to Shiomi Park (潮見公園) at highest spot on Shikanoshima Island situated 176 metres above sea level where you can see a fine view of Hakata Bay, The Sea of Genkai,
Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome and
Fukuoka Tower.
