Seaside Momochi (シーサイドももち), Sawara-ku, Fukuoka

Seaside Momochi is an area developed on the waterfront that stretches from west to east, from Momochihama in Sawara-ku to Jigyohama, Chuo-ku, with the Hii River between. The area boasts a culture zone with Fukuoka Tower, Seaside Park, Fukuoka City Public Library, Fukuoka City Museum and other facilities, and has a section with a press company and Soft Research Park, where information and IT-related companies are located. The Jigyohama area has the Fukuoka Yahoo Dome and hotel, and draws many visitors.

Fukuoka Dome (福岡ドーム)

Fukuoka Dome is a baseball field in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka. Built in 1993, the stadium is the home stadium of Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks and, together with Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk Hotel and Hawks Town Mall, is part of the Hawks Town entertainment complex. It is located near Momochi Beach, about 15 minutes walk from Tojinmachi subway station.

Shikanoshima Island (志賀島), Higashi-ku, Fukuoka

On 23 September 2011, we were dicided to take a drive to Shikanoshima Island.  Today was a nice weather, so we had decided to take a drive to see Kin-in Park (金印公園) where the golden black Seal (Kin-in 金印 in Japanese) was discovered in 1784.


About 1km further down the road from Kin-in Park, there is a mound called Mokozuka (蒙古塚) which Mongolians perished in battle fields or killed in action during the Mongolian invasion were buried for the repose of their souls so that they would not become violent gods.

Finally, we went to Shiomi Park (潮見公園) at highest spot on Shikanoshima Island situated 176 metres above sea level where you can see a fine view of Hakata Bay, The Sea of Genkai, Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome and Fukuoka Tower.

Magome Catholic Church (馬込カトリック教会), Iojima, Nagasaki

Magome Catholic Church, also known as St.Michael's Church (聖ミカエル教会), is located in the former town of Iojima, now part of the city of Nagasaki. The building was registered as Tangible Cultural Properties by Japanese Government.

Megane Bridge (眼鏡橋), Nagasaki

Today, I'll introduce you about Megane Bridge of Nagasaki, also known as "Spectacles Bridge" in English, over the Nakashima River (中島川) was built in 1634 by the Chinese monk Mozi of Kofukuji Temple.  On July 23, 1982, a disastrous deluge washed away six of the ten stone bridges over the Nakashima River. Meganebashi was badly damaged but fortunately almost all the original stones were retrieved and the bridge was restored to its original appearance.

Kairakuen is the best restaurant in China Town! We had a wonderful dinner in January. If you're going to Nagasaki, I recommend you to eat there once./1月に行ったとき中華街にある会楽園で夕食を取りました。ここの料理は安くておいしいです。もし長崎に行かれる方はぜひ一度いらしてください。

Sofuku-ji Temple (崇福寺), Nagasaki

On 05 June, we were visited to Sofuku-ji Temple, an an Ōbaku Zen temple that was built by the Chinese monk Chaonian in 1629 as the family temple of the Chinese from Fujian Province who settled in Nagasaki.

Min-Min, a Chinese boutique shop in Nagasaki's China Town/長崎新地中華街にある中国雑貨店「Min-Min

Before we had a lunch at Shinwarou (新和楼) of China Town, we went to Min-Min. As usual, we bought some  "Dragon" Chinese new year goods there./中華街にある新和楼で昼食を済ませる前にMin-Minに立ち寄っていつものように今年の干支である「竜」にちなんだ商品をいくつか買いました。

Day tripping to Nagasaki on 05 June

As I mentioned before, 05 June, we decided to take a drive to Nagasaki. Today was a rainy in the morning, but it became a nice weather from noon. First, we were visited to two catholic churches (Ono and Kurosaki) in Sotome area. After lunch, we went to Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture, Sofuku-ji Temple, Peace Park and Former British Consulate in Higashiyamate area.
